Satadhar Dham & the Guru Parampara of Aapa Giga Bapu

At the heart of the community's spiritual life stands Param Pujya Aapa Giga Bapu, whose sacred Guru Gadi at Satadhar Dham is revered as a wellspring of faith and devotion. Satadhar, in the Junagadh region of Saurashtra, Gujarat, is a place where pilgrims come to seek blessings, to serve, and to draw inspiration for a life of integrity.

The strength of Satadhar Dham lies in its unbroken guru parampara, a lineage of saints who have carried forward the same message of faith and seva. It begins with Param Pujya Aapa Giga Bapu and passes to Param Pujya Sant Shri Shamji Bapu, and then to Param Pujya Sant Shri Jivraj Bapu.

Today the tradition is upheld by the present guru, Param Pujya Sant Shri Vijay Bapu. Each saint in this succession has tended the same sacred flame, ensuring that the values first kindled by Aapa Giga Bapu remain vibrant and alive for the community.

This spirit is captured in two well-loved mottos of the tradition: "Tukdo tya Hari Dhukdo" and "Bhajan karo ane bhojan karavo". Together they express a simple but profound teaching, that to sing the praises of the divine and to feed others are two halves of the same devotion.

Alongside the annakshetra, Satadhar is home to a gaushala, a cow shelter where cows are protected and cared for with devotion. The gaushala is the living expression of the tradition's commitment to Gau Seva.

For devotees, tending the cows at Satadhar is both a duty and a blessing. It reflects the belief that compassion towards animals is a sacred responsibility and a direct path to grace.

The community's spirit of service reaches beyond Satadhar itself. During the Mahashivratri Fair at Girnar in Junagadh, the community manages a dharamshala that offers shelter to pilgrims who gather in great numbers for the occasion.

This dharamshala seva is a fitting extension of the values learnt at the guru gadi. By giving rest and refuge to travellers on their sacred journey, the community lives out the same ideals of hospitality, compassion and selfless service that define the Satadhar tradition.
