The story of Shree Kadiya Mahajan Wadi, Malad
In the history of Shree Gurjar Kshatriya Kadiya Samaj – Mumbai, the Shree Kadiya Mahajan Wadi in Malad holds a proud and historic place. It is not merely a building, but a living symbol of our community's unity, organisation, spirit of service and collective strength.
A venue for every occasion
Two air-conditioned halls, each seating 200–300 guests, arranged for whatever you're celebrating.
An inspiring beginning
In 1944, the leading members of our community came together and founded “Shree Mumbai Gurjar Kshatriya Kadiya Mahajan” with the aim of organising, uniting and comprehensively developing the community. As members lived across different parts of Mumbai, the elders would gather from time to time to support one another and to deliberate on the community's future.
From the noble wish to bring every member under one roof — and to have the community's own centre for religious, social and cultural activities — arose the resolve to build a Wadi of our own. With the unforgettable cooperation of community brothers from across Mumbai, a plot for the Wadi was purchased at Malad.
Foundation & construction
On 21 October 1950, the foundation ceremony (bhoomi-pujan) of today's Shree Gurjar Kshatriya Kadiya Mahajan Wadi at Malad was performed at the hands of the community's senior and leading elders.
Donors and members then extended unparalleled support with heart, effort and wealth. Many gave generously according to their means, while several elders spared time from their businesses and family responsibilities to work tirelessly toward completing the Wadi. Through their selfless efforts and love for the community, the construction was successfully completed.
The first floor & its sacred inauguration
In time, keeping in view the community's growing needs, the need for a first floor was felt. The leaders and members once again came together and resolved to build it.
The newly built first floor — a symbol of the community's unity and organisation — was inaugurated on 1 May 1971. On this sacred and historic occasion, the blessings of Param Pujya Shree Shamjibapu, the revered head of the Satadhar Gurugadi and the community's cherished saint, together with Param Pujya Dongreji Maharaj, the renowned Bhagwat exponent and celebrated saint, were received — giving this auspicious work special spiritual grace and sanctity.
A ceaseless journey of growth
After the inauguration of the first floor, the institution's growth found new direction and momentum, and it has never looked back since. Under the blessings and guidance of the revered saints, the social activities of the Trust have expanded year after year, and its income has grown steadily and significantly.
Mindful of these favourable circumstances, the Trust is managed with complete dedication so that the community's resources are used solely for community welfare, social upliftment, educational aid, and service-oriented and charitable work.
A centre of community life
For many decades, Shree Kadiya Mahajan Wadi has witnessed the joys and sorrows of thousands of community families. Countless weddings, family occasions, religious and cultural programmes, fellowship gatherings, important community events and service activities have been held here.
Even today the Mahajan Wadi remains an important centre of community life, from which the spirit of unity, sanskar, service and collective growth continually draws inspiration.
Modern facilities & service
Keeping pace with the times and the needs of the community, several development works have been undertaken in recent years. Periodic modernisation has transformed the Wadi from a simple hall into a well-equipped, fully-featured, modern banquet hall.
Both the ground floor and the first floor have been fully modernised and fitted with air-conditioning, along with modern seating, a well-organised kitchen, lighting, cleanliness and other essential amenities. During the ground-floor modernisation in particular, community members contributed very generously — laying a strong foundation for further development. The Trust and managing committee express heartfelt gratitude to all donors and members for their support, trust and affection.
Halls and facilities are offered at concessional rates for weddings, seemant, birth celebrations, religious programmes, fellowship gatherings and other auspicious occasions, so that every family finds a dignified and well-appointed venue. Today, families from our community and from neighbouring communities alike choose the Wadi for their occasions, and it has also become a trusted venue for corporate meetings, seminars and training programmes.
With grateful hearts
Behind the building and growth of Shree Kadiya Mahajan Wadi lie the foresight of our ancestors, the tireless efforts of our elder leaders, the generosity of donors, and the unity and dedication of the community.
The community offers heartfelt gratitude to all who realised this sacred work through their effort, heart, wealth and labour. It is thanks to their selfless service that we have inherited this priceless legacy. May this Wadi remain a memory of our glorious past, a symbol of our present unity, and a sacred source of inspiration for generations to come.
